Error description

  • The following error is returned when running the command
?deactivate data? against a Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle
    Client:

    tsm: TSMSRVAIX634>deactivate data TDP_ORACLE_DP todate=today
ANR3349W DEACTIVATE DATA: This command will deactivate data.
    Active backup
files that were created for the specified node on the
deactivation date or earlier will be deactivated.

Do you wish to proceed? (Yes (Y)/No (N)) y
ANR3420E DEACTIVATE DATA: Node TDP_ORACLE_DP is not a valid
    application type node.
    ANS8001I Return code 14.

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
The server only allows "deactivate data" for an ORACLE client
based on platform containing the string "DP ORACLE".
The platform is changed occasionally to that of the operating
system (WinNT for example for Windows platform) during the time
that the Tivoli Data Protection for Oracle client performs some
    task other than backup.

As per the previous example, the node ?TDP_ORACLE_DP? has WinNT
    as platform type:

    tsm: TSMSRVAIX634>q n *ora

    Node Name Platform Policy Domain
                                               Name

    ------------------------- -------- --------------
    TDP_ORACLE_DP WinNT DOM_ORACLE

Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All Tivoli Storage
Manager Servers v7.1.3 and later on all platforms

    Initial Impact: Low

Additional Keywords: deactivate data dp oracle ANR3420E winnt

Local fix

  • Access the Tivoli Storage Manager server from the Data
Protection for Oracle client with an RMAN session in order to
update the platform type to ?DP ORACLE? and rerun the deactivate
     command.
