APAR status

Error description

  • In the installation log files
    (latest lax-out and traceTPCInstall.log) there is an error:
    [echo] probable error executing WASService.exe:
    com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException:
    ADMU7709E: Unexpected exception while processing server:
    deviceServer; exception = java.io.IOException:
    Cannot run program
    "C:\Program Files\IBM\TPC\ewas\bin\WASService.exe":
    CreateProcess error=216,
    This version of %1 is not compatible with the version of
    Windows you're running.
    Check your computer's system information to see whether you need
    a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program,
    and then contact the software publisher.
    

Local fix

  • 1) Move WASService.exe from
       <TPC_5.1.1.9_EXTRACTOR_DIRECTORY>\was\ewas\bin somewhere
    outside
       of <TPC_5.1.1.9_EXTRACTOR_DIRECTORY>
    
    2) Copy the good WASService.exe to
       <TPC_5.1.1.9_EXTRACTOR_DIRECTORY>\was\ewas\bin
       The good one you get from a TPC 5.1.1.6 cd image.
    
    3) Copy the good WASService.exe from step 2) to
         <TPC_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY>\ewas\bin,
         e.g. C:\Program Files\IBM\TPC\ewas\bin
         Double check that <TPC_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY> and
         TPC_5.1.1.9_EXTRACTOR_DIRECTORY>\was\ewas\bin
         contain the good WASService.exe, i.e. it has size 80KB,
         (not 128 KB as in the original TPC 5.1.1.9 cd image).
    
    4) Resume the failed upgrade.
