Error description

  • After performing a WinPE restore of an EFI based Windows
    operating system, the bootmgr might be missing. For example
    \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume2\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgr
    .efi file is part of the BCD component and is missing after
    system state restore. This can happen with client level 7.1.2 or
     higher, where the fix for the APAR IT03810 has excluded BCD
    component from processing as client is not able to backup the
    BCD from a live volume.

Problem conclusion

  • Changes for APAR IT03810 have been undone so that
    BCD component is not skipped anymore.
    

Temporary fix

  • 7.1.4.4 Interim fix
    
    Note: this interim fix removes the  fix added for IT03810.
