APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a DFDL schema is created from a COBOL copybook that
contains a redefine, either the DFDL leadingSkip property can be
incorrectly set on the element following the redefine, or the
DFDL trailingSkip property can be incorrectly set on the parent
element of the redefine (if there is no following element).

This problem occurs when the item being redefined is larger in
size than the size of the redefine item.

Local fix

  • After the DFDL schema is created from the COBOL copybook,
manually change the value of the dfdl:trailingSkip property to 0
    in the DFDL editor.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When a DFDL schema is created from a COBOL copybook that
contains a redefine, either the DFDL leadingSkip property can be
incorrectly set on the element following the redefine, or the
DFDL trailingSkip property can be incorrectly set on the parent
element of the redefine (if there is no following element).

This problem occurs when the item being redefined is larger in
size than the size of the redefine item.

Problem conclusion

  • The product code now correctly handles the case when the item
being redefined is larger in size than the size of the redefine
    item.
