Error description

• When performing legacy backups using Tivoli Storage Manager for
  Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL, a logical group
  for that backup is created on the Tivoli Storage Manager server
  in a separate transaction. The backup process then sends the
  backup data to this group in forthcoming transaction(s).  If a
  connection failure occurs during data transfer, the logical
  group object is left on the Tivoli Storage Manager server in an
  active state and will never be inactivated. A select statement
  or SHOW VERSIONS run on the TSM Server will show the orphaned
  active objects, but a Data Protection for SQL query does not.

  Issuing a 'select * from backups where node_name='NODENAME' will
  show entries such as:

  Running a 'tdpsql query tsm *' or checking the restore view in
  the MMC GUI will not show the objects seen in the select output.

Local fix

• Since the Data Protection for SQL client does not see the
  orphaned objects, there is no means for these entries to be
  removed by the client.

Problem conclusion

• The following components have been updated to remove invalid
  backup objects in tsm server which created from a failure
  backup.
  
    Tivoli Storage Manager for Database: Data Protection for SQL

    Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft SQL Server
