IT09305: FLASHCOPY MANAGER MOUNT FAILS IN ORACLE ASM ENVIRONMENTS WITH NORMAL AND HIGH REDUNDANCY DISK GROUPS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After a successful Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager backup
  of volumes protected by Oracle Automatic Storage Management,
  the flashcopy target volumes cannot be mounted on the backup
  system, neither as part of an offloaded backup to the Tivoli
  Storage Manager server nor with the "fcmcli -f mount"
  command.
  The issue does only occur for normal and high redundancy
  diskgroups.
  
  The summary log file and acsgen trace file contain errors
  like:
  
  FMM6243E Failed to execute sql cmd 'ALTER DISKGROUP DG_NAME
  MOUNT' on host '<hostname>'. This is the output of the failed
  command:
  ALTER DISKGROUP DG_NAME MOUNT
  *
  ERROR at line 1:
  ORA-15042: ASM disk "31" is missing from group number "4"
  FMM6925E Function call 'mount' failed.
  FMM1554W The agent 'acsgen V. 4.1.0.2' terminated with exit
   code 1.
  
  An ORA-15040 message is not logged.

Local fix

• The diskgroups can be mounted manually after the failed mount
  by adding the force option to the "alter diskgroup mount"
  Oracle SQL command:
  ALTER DISKGROUP DG_NAME MOUNT FORCE

Problem conclusion
