IT08984: Backup/Archive client fails on stub file if HSM for Windows client node name has changed to upper or lower case characters

Error description

  • Tivoli Storage Manager BACKUP/Archive client fails, if an HSM
    for Windows stub file should be backed up, and the
    HSM for Windows client nodename specified in option file
    ..\hsmclient\dsm.opt has changed since the creation of the stub
    file. The failure even occurs, if the node name changes were
    only uppercase/lowercase character changes. But differences in
    upper/lower case characters should be tolerated.
    Also HSM for Windows command line tool "dsmfileinfo -q" should
    tolerate upper/lower case character changes in node name, but
    does not.

    Customer/L2 diagnostics (if applicable): When error message
    'ANS1611E A plugin operation failed because of an internal
    error' is issued, investigate the stub file, that causes the
    backup operation to fail, with "dsmfileinfo -q". On error, check
    if the log file, dsmfileinfo.log, shows entries like

    If so, investigate the file with "dsmfileinfo -r" and compare
    the node name from reparse point, with the node name in dsm.opt.
    If they do not match, the problem solved with this APAR,
    applies.
