Error description

  • Point-in-time restore of file system backup via the Tivoli
Storage FlashCopy Manager on Windows MMC GUI fails with:

     "RC: 1207 FMF0104E Invalid option".

The FlashCopy Manager on Windows MMC GUI does not convert the
PITDate value to the format specified in configuration file on.

For example, the date format defined in configuration file is
yyyy-mm-dd, but the PITDate value is set as mm/dd/yyyy format
as shown in an FCM trace:

    Fm Information: 0 : 2015/4/30 19:13:14:264 [18] :
    (0)
    Calling API Initialize.

    Files\Tivoli\flashcopymanager\fcmcfg.xml,/TSMOPTFile=C:\Program
    Files\Tivoli\flashcopymanager\dsm.opt,/Tracefile=C:\Program
    Files\Tivoli\flashcopymanager\TraceFileFs.trc,/Traceflags=servic
    e,/FROMSERVER=TIVVM07,/INSTANTRESTor
    e=Yes,/PITDate=04/30/2015,/PITTime=19:12:56,/NOPROMPT

Local fix

  • 1. Set DATEformat to mm/dd/yyyy and run PIT restore via
    FlashCopy MMC GUI
    2. Use the CLI interface to perform the restore. On the restore
command, ensure that the PITDate value specified is in the same
format as defined in the configuration file.
