Error description

  • Client snapdiff backup can report errors for 'bind mount
    points'.
    A 'bind mount point' is an NFS subdirectories mounted via --bind
    mount option.
    
    ANS5250E An unexpected error was encountered.
       TSM function name : nsGetNasVolumeInfo():
       TSM function      : dmMapNfsVolume() failed to map remote
    volume for
       path: </mnt/tmpfs/mnt/log>.
       TSM return code   : 6213
       TSM file          : snapcommon.cpp (416)
    
    ANS1228E Sending of object  '/mnt/backup/location/*' failed.
    ANS4021E Error processing  '/mnt/backup/location/*': file system
    not ready
    ANS1802E Incremental backup of '/mnt/backup' finished with XX
    failure(s)
    
    Note that the ANS5250E is for a 'bind mount point', whereas the
    ANS1228E/ANS4021E message is for the desired filesystem.
    
    A bind mount point can be seen in the 'mount' command output:
    
    /mnt/data/log on /mnt/tmpfs/mnt/log type none (rw,bind)
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager client is incorrectly considering them as
    possible candidates for snapdiff processing.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Client Versions Affected:  6.3.x, 6.4.x
    and 7.1.x on Linux x86 platform

Local fix

  • User could temporarily un-mount these bind mount points and run
    snapdiff backup to prevent the errors.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been fixed so that it no longer occurs.
    

Temporary fix

    fix package. Until this interim fix is actually available this
