APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When using Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Micrsoft SQL
  Server to perform VSS Instant Restore operations, and there is
  no free space left on the drive that holds the FlashCopy Manager
  on Windows virtual server repository (adsm.sys), the restore
  operation will complete with a return code of zero even though
  the restore operation was not actually performed.
  Platforms affected:  All supported Windows platforms.
  Initial Impact:: Low
  

Local fix

• Free up additional space on the volume where the virtual server
  repository (adsm.sys) resides.

Problem conclusion

• Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft SQL Server and
  Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data Protection for
  Microsoft SQL Server  have been updated so that the operation
  will fail with a corresponding error message when the backup
  can not be completed due to an out of space condition for
  adsm.sys.
  

Temporary fix

• Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases: Data Protection for
  Microsoft SQL Server  7.1.2.1
  Note 2: Until a FlashCopy Manager for SQL Server fix is
  available, FlashCopy Manager customers may install and use a
  fixed level of the Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server.
  When installed into a FlashCopy Manager on Windows
  environment, the Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server fix
  provides equivalent functionality.
