Error description

  • If an invalid value for the WebSphere MQ JCA Resource Adapter
(RA) property "startupRetryCount" is specified, i.e., the value
cannot be parsed as a Java int primitive, then the property is
set to the value 10. The default value should be 0.

Local fix

  • Ensure the WebSphere MQ JCA Resource Adapter property
startupRetryCount is set to a valid integer value.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter (RA) manages an internal
connection pool of JMS connections that are used to deliver
messages to MDBs. There are a number of properties that can be
configured on the WebSphere MQ RA that relate to said connection
pool. One such property is the "startupRetryCount" String
property. This property defines the number of times to try and
connect an MDB on startup, if the queue manager is not running
when the application server is started.

When the WebSphere MQ RA is initialised, the configured
startupRetryCount property is read. If the value for this
property has been configured with an invalid value, one where
the String value cannot be parsed as a Java int primitive, then
this property was incorrectly set to the value 10. The default
value should be 0. This would result in the startup reconnection
    retry logic being enabled.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter has been updated such that if
the configured startupRetryCount String property cannot be
parsed as a Java primitive int, then it is set to the default
    value 0.
