APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There are situations when the active zoneset cannot be
    retrieved, even if the user checks the box "Use Active Zoneset".
    In this case TPC will create and activate a new zoneset,
    containing just the zones created in the current provisioning
    session and deactivating the previous active zoneset.
    This may cause loss of connectivity.
    Re activating the previous ZoneSet fixes the connectivity.

    * part of the SAN Planner provisioning.                        *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * In certain conditions the provisioning task can encounter    *
    * connectivity issues when assigning a volume and activate a   *
    * new zone set.                                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply fix maintenance when available.  In the meantime, it   *
    * can be avoided by disabling fabric zoning in SAN Planner or  *
    * disabling active zone set changes in the Web UI Provisioning *
    * feature.                                                     *
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • An error will be returned if the provisioning task fails rather
    than creating a new zone set, even if "use active zone set" is
    checked.  The fix for this APAR is targeted for the following
    maintenance package:
