Error description

  • After WebSphere MQ (WMQ) client upgrade from v7.0.1 to 7.1.0.x,
    significant delays seen in the connections to the queue
    manager. The application is slower running with the
    channel attribute SHARECNV set to 1 than 0. Traces show
    delays ranging from 0.04 to 0.14 of a second with the
    SHARECNV set to 0, and between 1.5 and 2.0 seconds when
    this value is set to 1.

    The trace files show the delay with SHARECNV =1:

    09:38:57.102364 pid.tid : (02)---{
    UnmanagedNmqiMQ.MQCONNX(String,MQConnectOptions,Phconn,out
    int,out int)
    09:38:57.102380 pid.tid : (03)----{
    UnmanagedNmqiMQ.MQCONNX(String,ref MQCNO,Hconn,Phconn,out
    int,out int)
    09:38:58.719703 pid.tid : The list of dlls entries for
    the current process after MQCONNX are :

    The connection times can increase the longer the application
    is running.

    The MQ .NET application trace will show delays like this

    00042E26 09:12:37.971737 2064.2 : (01)--{
    MQQueueManager.Connect()
    00043C6D 09:12:39.607791 2064.2 : (01)--}
    MQQueueManager.Connect() (rc=OK)

    01.636054 secs delay

    00010C34 15:31:22.653359 2064.4 : (01)--{
    MQQueueManager.Connect()
    00011A7C 15:31:24.433108 2064.4 : (01)--}
    MQQueueManager.Connect() (rc=OK)

    01.779749 secs delay

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    Users running MQ .NET applications at 7.1 or 7.5 or 8.0.
    Applications connecting in client mode and in bindings are
    affected.

    Platforms affected:
    Windows

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    The processing delay was was encountered in the OS method
    invoked in the MQ .NET code to collect the list of libraries
    loaded by the application.

Problem conclusion

  • Since this debugging information can be collected using external
    tools such as listdlls, it does not add any additional value to
    the MQ .NET code and hence it has been removed to improve the
    performance.
