IT02477: DFDL PARSER DOES NOT PARSE BCD CALENDAR WITH LEADING ZERO

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a DFDL model has a xsd:time, xsd:date or xsd:dateTime element
with binary representation, and that element has a calendar
pattern that contains either the 'S' character or the 'yy'
component, the product can fail to parse a value that has a
    leading zero.

For an element that uses the 'S' character in the pattern, the
DFDL parser may return a 'CTDP3029E: Invalid calendar value'
    error .

For an element with a calendar pattern that contains 'yy', the
DFDL parser will parse the value but may overwrite the century
of the date in the infoset.

Local fix

  • The user can alternatively model the BCD calendar field as
    multiple BCD
    numeric fields.

Problem summary

    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of IBM Integration Bus V9.0 who make use of the Data
    Format Description Language (DFDL) parser.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The product was converting the binary data to a number, then
converting the number to a character string before passing it to
ICU. The conversion from binary to number was loosing any
    leading zeros in the data.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

    tools.mft.doc/bb23814_.htm

Problem conclusion

  • The product now converts the binary data directly in to a
character string, so retains the leading zeros from the binary
    data.
