IO11286: FOREIGN KEY ON DOCUMENT ITEM TYPE CAUSES SLOW DOCUMENT IMPORT THROUGH ECLIENT.

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The document item type is auto-linked to the folder item type
  and there is a foreign key on the document item type back to
  the folder item type.  Importing a document into the item type
  is very slow (6 minutes or more) when using the eClient. If the
  foreign key is removed (or the CM pclient is used which does not
  recognize foreign keys) then the same import takes only seconds.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• If the user has two item types- a folder item type, and documet
  item type. The document item type is auto-linked to the folder
  item type on an attribute called CRDNumber, and, there is a
  Foreign Key on the document item type back to the folder item
  type. The RDNumber attribute is NOT in a drop down list format.
  If there are many folder entries in the system, like 10K or
  more, and when a document is imported to the document item type,
  the response times is very long.  They have ranged from 6 min to
  31 min.
  
  When we REMOVE the foreign key from the document item type back
  to the folder item type, the issues go away and the store takes
  just seconds.
  
  This problem is fixed in cm83 fixpack 12.
  

Problem conclusion

• In DKForeignKeyDefICM's class, change the retrieve option in
  getSpecificAttrsForForeignKey() method from
  DK_CM_CONTENT_ATTRONLY to DK_CM_CONTENT_ITEMTREE_NO_LINKS to
  avoid retrieving unneeded inbound and outbound links.
