  • Error Message: JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library
    j9gc29(5): Failed to allocate default memory space
    Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
    Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Local fix

  • disable NUMA via java option -Xgc:nonuma
    

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused when heap can not be split evenly among
    NUMA nodes.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The JVM has been updated to handle the case which NUMA nodes
    have been assigned with the different size of heap memory.
    .
    This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
       8    SR5 FP27  (8.0.5.27)
