Problem summary


    

  • When doing SHA calculations in a microbenchmark with hardware
acceleration enabled (default) the JVM can become excessively
busy with object allocation overhead due to the choice of buffer
size used. The net effect is that the performance will be better
when hardware acceleration is disabled.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The JRE has been updated to use a different buffer size for SHA
calculations to optimize object allocation overhead.
