Problem summary
Hardware acceleration for certain cryptographic methods was inadvertently turned off in Java 8.0.5.15 (SR5 FP15). The methods are used for Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), and Cipher Block Chaining (CBC). A significant performance regression can be seen in suites which use these algorithms.
Problem conclusion
Hardware acceleration for these particular methods was re-enabled. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: For x86 and POWER 8 SR5 FP17 (8.0.5.17) For z Systems 8 SR5 FP22 (8.0.5.22) .
