Problem summary
Child process in Java on AIX close <TLD>65K file descriptors in a loop irrespective of how many have actually used. This behaviour has resulted in many FILE_CLOSE calls fail with EBADF.
Problem conclusion
Java Class-library code has been updated to use fcntl() with F_CLOSEM flag to close only opened file descriptor instead of legacy way of closing all 65K File descriptors. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR5 FP10 (8.0.5.10) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs. For those running stand-alone, information about the available Service Refreshes and Fix Packs can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
