Local fix

• This issue can be worked around using @XmlTransient annotation
  on the abstract class.
  

Problem summary

• During context creation, JAXB considers the java.util.List
  element types to be a Leaf class which makes the marshaller to
  ignore the actual xsi:type and the unmarshaller to instantiate
  the abstract class.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JDK has been updated to check for sub classes of the given
  class before setting it to a Leaf element.
