APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JobManager can leave defunct processes running when a CIT scan
    performed by wscanhw runs for more than 60 seconds.  JobManager
    waits for 1 minute for the scan to complete, reporting an error
    if it does not complete in this time.
    .
    After an error is reported JobManager does not wait any longer
    for the wscanhw to complete and the process becomes defunct.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • JobManager is responsible to launch hw scan process (wscanhw)
    and wait for 2 minutes for the scan process end. If the scan
    duration exceeds 2 minutes, the csan is considered failed and
    the spawned process is not waited and wcanhw becomes a defunct
    process. JobManager should always wait for its children
    completion.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The apar will be fixed in TWS 9.3 fp4, 9.4 fp5
