IC98711: RECOVERY OF LOGGED INDEX PAGES CAN CORRUPT THE INDEX

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If the database server goes down during creation of an index,
  specifically during index page logging phase, the index will be
  corrupted (index leaf page chain interrupted) once the server
  has been restarted.
  
  Such index would look ok and be used, and in case of HDR it even
  would be re-transferrred as HDR secondary detects incomplete
  index transfer and marks index bad.  Yet oncheck would show:

  ERROR:  Bad node links. 0x199's next 0 != 0x19a
  ISAM error:  illegal key descriptor (too many parts or too
  long).
  ERROR:  Index ix_teste_1 for db:owner.tab is bad.
  Please Drop and ReCreate Index ix_tab_1 for db:owner.tab
