Error description

  • After upgrade from Tivoli Storage Manger Server version 5 to a
version 6 or version 7 server, for nodes
using sessioninit=serveronly setting, "query node f=d" for those
    nodes shows

    Session Initiation: ServerOnly

    but
    "select node_name,session_initiation from nodes" (from
    dsmadmc)
    shows session initiation as ClientOrServer

    NODE_NAME SESSION_INITIATION
    ------------ -------------------
    NODENAME ClientOrServer

Running "update node" command with sessioninit=serveronly makes
no difference to select output and it remains
    as ClientOrServer.

An additional issue seen, is that nodes with passexp set to 0,
will now show this as NULL after upgrade to 7.1. This can cause
client backups for affected nodes failing, until passexp is
reset to 0 with update node command.

    Initial Impact:
    Low

    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager Server versions 6.x and 7.1.x

    Additional Keywords:
    zz61 zz62 zz63 zz71 node sessioninit select

Local fix

  • If "query node" shows sessioninitiation as serveronly and select
     shows as clientorserver, do:

    UPDATE NODE NODENAME SESSIONINITIATION=CLIENTORSERVER
    UPDATE NODE NODENAME SESSIONINITIATION=SERVERONLY

    For the passexp issue, run:
    update node node_name passexp=0
