You can use the FileSource operator to read data from a file with comma-separated or character-separated values (CSV). The operator expects the file to be structured as a series of lines, where each line is a list of comma-separated values. If one of the values is a string literal that contains embedded double quotation marks, the operator expects the embedded quotation marks to be prefixed with an escape character. For example, a CSV file that contains the following line is acceptable: Mary \"\"Quite Contrary\"\" Mason",Accountant,Finance,105000.26 The following line would cause problems: Mary ""Quite Contrary"" Mason,Accountant,Finance,105000.26 An example error message is as follows: 09 Oct 2013 16:55:19.861 ERROR #splapptrc,J,P,Src,spl_operator M[Src.cpp:processOneFile:162] - CDISR5029E: During the read of tuple number 1, the , character was expected, but the " character was found.
You can work around the problem by modifying the CSV file to contain the escape characters before you submit the file to the FileSource operator.
USERS AFFECTED: Users who have embedded quotation marks in CSV files that are submitted to FileSource operators. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: See Error Description. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: A fix for this issue might be delivered in a future release.
