Error description

  • Since upgrading from HOD 11.0.5 to HOD 11.0.6 the 3270 session
    icon takes too long to display (up to 33 seconds delay). The
    cause of the 30+ seconds delay was found to be due to not
    enabling Java to keep temporary files on the client PC. On the
    Java control panel, under General / Temporary Internet Files.

    Other PCs that do not have the delay have that box checked.
    Upon changing the client PC settings to" Keep", and bringing up

    the HOD session the 30+ seconds delay occurs. This situation
    does not occur with HOD 11.0.5.

    User installed JRE 1.6_24 and also with JRE 1.6_41 and
    1.6_43 and repeated the tests, with Java set to keep temporary
    files on the PC, and then to not keep temporary files.
    User gets the same results as before. With keep turned on,
    there is no delay. With keep unchecked, there is a 33 seconds
    delay before the 3270 session icon appears.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When launching sessions from Host *
    *                      On-Demand cached clients, the sessions  *
    * are taking 30+ seconds to launch. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Whenever a cached client is accessed for the first time, the
    sessions launch fine. When accessing on subsequent times,
    there is a 33 sec delay for the sessions to launch. The Sticky
    Cache was being set to true whenever the cached client was
    accessed the first time. From the second time onwards the
    delay happened because the component list is received the
    first time only when the usingPluginStickyCache variable is
    not set properly.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was modified to set the usingPluginStickyCache variable
    properly.

    Fix scheduled to be available in HOD 11.0.9 Refresh Pack.
