  • SAP backups taken at file level using the backint component
    of Tivoli Storage Manager for Enterprise Resource Planning:
    Data Protection for SAP with Oracle may fail with:
    
    BKI4008E: File '/path/file.name' cannot be opened
              Reason:  errno(22)  A system call received a
              parameter that is not valid.
    
    for JFS2 filesystems that are not mounted using the
    concurrent I/O (CIO) option.

    usually recorded within the brbackup log file.

Local fix

  • Force backint to change the file open flags to
    'O_CIO | O_RDONLY' by exporting the environment variable
    ESD_DBFILE_OPEN_FLAGS=0x00000080
    for the user who performs the backup.
        or
    Remount the database filesystems with concurrent IO option.
        or
    Use RMAN instead of backint.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Enterprise Resource Planning
    will be fixed to correctly backup Oracle data files for all
    Oracle versions.

  • A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix
    package 6.3.0.4. Until the interim fix is actually available
    this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
