Error description

  • db2 clp dumps core with option -l and statements in the input
    file (-f) that are bigger than 128 k.

    Stack in the core would look like this:

    Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.
    #0  0x00002aaaab2ac19a in clpfp_install_signals(void (*)(int,
    siginfo*, void*), void (*)(int, siginfo*, void*)) ()
       from /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    (gdb) where
    #0  0x00002aaaab2ac19a in clpfp_install_signals(void (*)(int,
    siginfo*, void*), void (*)(int, siginfo*, void*)) ()
       from /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #1  0x00002aaaab643df7 in clp_fp_sig_termpgm(int, siginfo*,
    void*) () from /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #2  <signal handler called>
    #3  0x00002aaaab2a6ebd in clp_print_history(int, char*, sqlca*)
    () from /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #4  0x00002aaaab2afd39 in clp_execmd() () from
    /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #5  0x00002aaaab2ad4c6 in clp_execinp(int, int) () from
    /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #6  0x00002aaaab2ac442 in clp_fp_con(int, int, char**) () from
    /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #7  0x00002aaaab2a8138 in clp_api () from
    /home/xyz/sqllib/lib/libdb2.so.1
    #8  0x0000000000401f23 in main ()

    In many cases you would not see a valid stack as it is
    overwritten with the statement text, eg:

    Core was generated by `end if;
                    end if;
                 end if;

                 set v_endtab'.
    Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.
    #0  0x00000032a8860d67 in gets () from /lib64/libc.so.6

    In this case a db2trc will help to identify the issue.

Local fix

  • run command without -l option
