Error description

  • I am trying to use the PCOMSTRT command to open a hidden
session (so that the PComm window doesn't open and the session
    runs in the background).

I am using the following command (in Windows Command Prompt):

        PCOMSTRT /p=host.ws /s=a /w=0

(With w=0 indicating that the window state is set to hidden)

The command completes successfully with the following response:

        Starting session [profile=host.ws session=' '] . . . Started

However, a PComm window opens as a result of this command,
which is not the intended behavior, ie. the window is not being
    hidden.

Local fix

  • Install the 6.0.4 Refresh level.

    ****************************************************************
When LastExitViewFromINI is set to False in the Windows
registry, the PCSWIN.INI file should not be used to get
the View information. This affects the behavior of the
Tool Bar, Quick Connect Bar and Menu Bar settings.

    Other symptoms:
Tool bar settings are not retained when the .WS file is
copied from one PC to another PC.
PCOMSTRT command does not work when W=0 option is used.
LastExitView data is read from PCSWIN.INI even if the
registry key is set to False.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSWS.EXE has been changed to ensure that LastExitView data
is read from the .WS or the .INI file based on the value of
    LastExitViewFromINI registry key:

    HKCU\Software\IBM\Personal Communications\CurrentVersion\
    Preferences\LastExitViewFromINI

The default value of T(True) is for reading from the INI file.
Set it to F(False) for reading from the WS file.

Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.8 Refresh Pack
