Error description

  • Customer is using 3270 session with HCP 1390 (JIS2004 support).
If he press ctrl + PF3 (altview) to change SBCS mappings on
    display
then perform file transfer to receive a text file from host,
the SBCS mappings in received data are also changed.
altview should just toggle the character mappings on display
so that it should not be change the data processing.
    <steps>
     1. Login to host on a 3270 session
     2. Receive a text file ( file A )
     3. press ctrl + PF3
     4. Receive a text file again. (File B)
     5. compare file B with file A

Local fix

Problem summary

  • File transfer received incorrect lower case characters from 3270
host, after turn on Alternate View in 1390 or 1399 code page
    session.

Problem conclusion

  • The error is caused by conversion table is overwritten to
different code mapping when Alternate View is enabled.
Alternate View is just for change/toggle display purpose and
should not actually impact code conversion in file transfer,
so we need to skip AltView checking for code coversion when
    doing file transfer.

Temporary fix
