DataPower 9235 appliances, running with firmware 188.8.131.52 through 184.108.40.206, that have an XML Accelerator of xg3ng or xg4ng, and using eth1 or eth2, may encounter an unexpected restart. Note, ?using eth1 or eth2? means that the link is up (active). In other words, the interface is enabled, configured and connected to a switch. It does not matter whether traffic is flowing over the interface or not. * This is a critical update APAR for appliances matching this situation. * With firmware 220.127.116.11 through 18.104.22.168, an unexpected restart occurs without a backtrace. The DataPower error report, in the IMPISelEvents section, also reports a 'Non maskable interrupt' event. If running DataPower 22.214.171.124 through 126.96.36.199, an unexpected reload occurs. The DataPower error report, in the IPMISelEvents section, reports a 'watchdog2HardReset' event.
Affected are customers with DataPower appliance model 9235, with xg3ng or xg4ng XML accelerator, running firmware releases 188.8.131.52-184.108.40.206. Other firmware releases and hardware models are not affected. The model of the appliance hardware and XML accelerator card is found via the WebGUI (Status > System > Version Information) or CLI (show version). If eth1 or eth2 network interfaces are in use, the appliance may randomly reboot, with "Non maskable interrupt" event logged in IPMI SEL log.
The fix is available in 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168. For a list of the latest fix packs available, please see: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237631
