Error description
When a DataPower device has Failure Notification enabled, Upload Error Report on, Background Memory Trace on, and the device begins to run out of resources (due to Out Of Memory or other reason), the process of taking the Memory Trace might cause the device to restart.
Local fix
Turn off Background Memory Trace in Failure Notification.
Problem summary
Affected are DataPower configurations with 4.0.1, 4.0.2 and 5.0.0 firmware and FFDC memory leak detection enabled. When this feature is automatically activated by a low-memory condition of the appliance, there is a small probability of the appliance restarting.
Problem conclusion
The fix is available in 4.0.1.18, 4.0.2.14 and 5.0.0.9. For a list of the latest fix packs available, please see: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21237631
