Error description

  • Access log files were accumulating in the
    /var/log/purescale/ipas.server directory.

Customer noticed problems deploying virtual systems.

    Error reported in logs was:
    CWZIP9001E("[FileSystems: WatchdogException]")
    Detailed message was
    "com.ibm.purescale.watchdog.WatchdogException: File system at
    /var/log is xx% full".

Local fix

Problem summary

  • On a heavily used system the normal internal process logging can
generate a large number of log files. If directory space becomes
low deployment processing can be effected.

Problem conclusion

  • An additional maintenance job has been defined that checks for
the number of log files that have been generated and delete the
oldest files before they can become a problem.
