Error description

  • For File Device Class volume on an N-Series Filer with SnapLock
enabled. During Reclamation, the Tivoli Storage Manager server
is attempting to build a list of objects to be processed when
the call to the Filer fails with rc 30.

Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: All V5.5 and V6
    servers

    Example of message:
    ANR9999D_2819106766 pvrSetArchiveRetention(pvr.
c:1997) Thread<57>: Error 30 setting last access time for volume
    /n13/00037E54.BFS

This message is due to the Filer settings:
    snaplock_default_period=Max,  (Default Max retention)
snaplock_minimum_period=0y, (This is the default )
snaplock_maximum_period=30y ( This is the default)

In the case, that was reported, the Filer setting
"snaplock_default_period" was not intended to be set to Max.
The volume was Snaplocked to 30 years and was marked on the
Filer with 32bit date of 1974.

The Tivoli Storage Manager server is not accounting for this
Filer date correctly. This will only occur when the setting
is set to max or set to some non-zero value that causes the
filer to create a file with a retention date later
than January 19, 2038 which is the date the 32 bit date
wraps. This should not be a problem if the filer is
running on a 64 bit operating system.

    Initial Impact: Medium
Additional Keywords: wrap around date NAS file retention date
