IC89755: NullPointerException in Streams Studio for Import operators whose output stream is not input by any operators.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• It is legal SPL code to have an Import operator with an output
  stream that that is not input by any operators.  If you submit
  the SPL application as a job, Streams Studio reports a
  NullPointerException when it refreshes the  information about
  the instance.  Additionally, when you attempt to view the
  application with the "Show Application Graph" command in
  Streams Studio, a NullPointerException occurs.
  

Local fix

• To work around the problem, add an operator that takes the
  Import output stream as input. This operator can be just a
  temporary placeholder, for example, a Custom operator that does
  nothing with the input.  Alternatively, remove the Import
  operator from the SPL source code.
