Error description
Problem Description: In Microsoft Exchange 2007 cluster environments restore may fail using the Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server MMC GUI. Mailbox restores are only possible for the first active node in the cluster. The problem comes with Exchange 2007 SCC clusters with more than one active virtual Exchange server. For example, the problem does not affect an Active/Passive cluster, but would affect an Active/Active/Passive cluster. Customer/L2 Diagnostics: Example given: An 3 virtual server Exchange 2007 is built with three nodes. EXCCLU01 EXCCLU02 EXCCLU03 Mailbox restores for EXCCLU01 will work on every node in the cluster. The mailbox restores for EXCCLU02 and EXCCLU03 are not successful on any node in the cluster. The error message for those mailbox restores is: ACN5237E Unable to communicate with the Microsoft Exchange Server. A trace of the Data Protection for Exchange shows the cause of the failure: psex07ut.cpp (1623): PSExchangeExecuteCmdlet(): Adding cmdlet <New-StorageGroup -Name TSMRSG -Recovery -Server EXCCLU01 -LogFolderPath c:\Templogpath\TSMRSG_20130116142240 -SystemFolderPath c:\Tempdbpath\TSMRSG_20130116142240> to pipeline... The problem is the -Server being the first active virtual server EXCCLU01 and not the actual one EXCCLU02 or EXCCLU03 Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail: Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server 6.3 and newer IBM Tivoli FlashCopy Manager FlashCopy Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server 3.1 and newer Initial Impact: Low Additional Keywords: TSM TDP SCR SCC CCR IMR Single Copy Continious Replication Standby Local Fix: Mailbox Restore may be performed with the MFC style GUI or command line using the /excserver option to point to the proper Exchange node in the cluster.
Local fix
Mailbox Restore may be performed with the MFC style GUI or command line using the /excserver option to point to the proper Exchange node in the cluster.
