Error description

  • To administer WMB 6.1 brokers through IS02, the userid under
which IS02 is running has to have admin privileges. Without
admin privileges, IS02 will fail to reflect the local broker
status and will fail to connect to local brokers. The problem
does not exist at V7.0 or later.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of WebSphere Message Broker and the IS02 SupportPac.

    Platforms affected:
Linux on x86 platform, Linux on x86-64 platform, Windows on
x86 platform, Windows on x86-64 platform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
If IS02 is running under a user with no administrative
privileges, the local brokers will be shown in stopped state.
Remote brokers will work without any problem. However, there
will be no provision to administer local brokers if the user
id does not have administrative privileges

Problem conclusion

  • IS02 requires the system user account to have administrative
privileges, non-admin users are not supported. For WebSphere
Message Broker V7.0 and later non-admin users are supported by
    WebSphere Message Broker Explorer.

The IS02 documentation PDF will be updated with the following
    information:

To administer brokers created in WebSphere Message Broker
Version 6.1 with IS02, the user account in which IS02 is running
must have administrative privileges. You cannot administer local
    brokers without administrative privileges.
