Error description
"setmqm" command might fail with error AMQ6237 if the queue manager file system is not available. Example: AMQ6237: File '/var/mqm/qmgrs/MYQMGR/qmstatus.ini' missing. WebSphere MQ queue manager in HACMP high availability configuration fails to start after the file system for the failed node is mounted on the surviving node. In a high availability scenario where the file system for the failed node is mounted on the surviving node then an attempt is made to start the queue manager for the failed node on the surviving node, the following error is seen in log: AMQ6292: The queue manager is associated with a different installation. The output of dspmqinf command may show InstallationName=Installation1 on the original node but then show InstallationName=Installation0 on the failover node. The /var/mqm/mqs.ini file on node one has an InstallationName for the queue manager on node one but that InstallationName attribute is missing for node two's queue manager. Issuing the setmqm command does not produce an error but the it is not able to open the qmstatus.ini file when the queue manager file system is not accessible. In a high availability setup where the queue manager file system is only available on the backup node if the primary node has been failed over (such as with HACMP), the addmqinf will not update the existing stanzas in the /var/mqm/mqs.ini for other nodes in the cluster, requiring that each and every node in the cluster have their respective /MQHA file system available for the purpose of updating the QueueManager stanzas in the
Local fix
Manually update the /var/mqm/mqs.ini file to add or correct the InstallationName.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users using setmqm command to update install name on a standby node in a high availability setup Platforms affected: Solaris x86-64, Solaris SPARC, Linux on zSeries, Linux on x86-64, Linux on x86, Linux on S390, Linux on Power, IBM iSeries, HP-UX OpenVMS, HP-UX PA-RISC, HP-UX Itanium, AIX **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: This problem occurred because "setmqm" command required access to queue manager file system for validating the configuration before updating the install name.
Problem conclusion
setmqm has been modified to update the install name in mqs.ini without validating the queue manager configuration if the queue manager file system is not available. If the update is successful, then setmqm will display and also log a warning message AMQ5658. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.4 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.1.0.4 AIX 7.1.0.4 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.4 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.4 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.4 iSeries 7.1.0.4 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.4 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.4 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.4 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.4 Platform v7.5 -------- -------------------- Multiplatforms 7.5.0.2 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
