Error description

  • The Tivoli Storage Manager server installation coordinates the
    installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager server, DB2, and
    other components.
    If the Tivoli Storage Manager server installation or upgrade,
    installs the server successfully but the DB2 component fails,
    subsequent attempts to install might fail.
    
    Identifying and correcting the problem that caused the initial
    DB2 install failure does not always allow the Tivoli Storage
    Manager server installation to complete successfully.  The
    installer messages might incorrectly indicate that the Tivoli
    Storage Manager server failed to install when the Tivoli Storage
    Manager server component is at the desired level.
    
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager server installation or upgrade version
    6.x on all platforms

    There were problem installing the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
    Server. See xxx\tsm_server.log for details.

    When this problem occurs the tsm_server.log will not be updated
    with any entries for additional install attempts.  All the logs
    entries are from the first install attempt when the server
    installed successfully but the DB2 component failed.
