Error description

  • An event indicating a port on the SAN switch may have a bad
SFP, damaged cabling or dirty cable may be on the System
Console > Events page. There is not an issue with the
port or cable that needs to be addressed.

The event message is:
Port xx on the SAN switch may have a bad SFPs, damaged cabling
or dirty cable

Problem summary


    

  • The code monitoring possible error conditions on the hardware
contained tolerances that were too low and were producing events
on normal operating conditions.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The tolerance algorithm was improved and normal conditions are
being excluded to decrease the amount of false event messages.
