APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When creating a new server instance on Windows using the
    wizard with a domain user account that is a member of the
    Administrators, db2admns and db2users local groups, the
    instance creation will fail with the following pop-up error:
    "This wizard requires root access".
    The only option is to click OK to exit.
    Also, "root" is not a valid term on Windows when referring
    to user rights and permissions.

Local fix

  • Use an alternate method to create the instance such
    as the Administration Center, the manual steps or
    the Management Console.  Instructions in the
    Information Center.
    It is also possible to use the wizard with a local
    user account instead of a domain user account.
