IC88501: "DIRECTORY NOT FOUND OR NOT ACCESSIBLE" WHEN DEFINING INSTANCE WITH A SYMBOLIC LINK TO JUNCTION POINT

APAR status

• Closed as duplicate of another APAR.

Error description

• The problem occurs on Windows when at least one of the
  directories used for the database or the logs is a symbolic
  link to a junction point.
  
  For example, in the test used to demonstrate the issue,
  i:\server1\db is a symbolic link to the junction point
  i:\server1\mnt_2.  The latter is a junction to a physical disk.
  
  
  When trying to use i:\server1\db as a database directory using
  the wizard (dsmicfgx.exe), the following error is diplayed in
  a popup:
    "Directory i:\server1\db was not found or is not
     accessible.
  
     The directory does not exist, or the instance user ID does
     not have authority to write to the directory."

  java.io.IOException: CTGRI0006E An error occurred when writing
     to the remote file named i:\server2\db\ .
  If trying to define the instance manually, it also fails,
  here is an example:

     activelogdir=i:\server1\activelog
     archlogdir=i:\server1\archlog
