APAR status

Error description

• When processing an EDIFACT interchange through Sterling Gentran
  Server for Microsift Windows in an inbound process, the
  Compost.exe would go into an infinite loop. The data contained
  unprintable character as the terminator.
  
  It was determined though that the terminator just did not have
  to match the splitter table entry, it did not matter whether it
  was printable or not.
  The break process also never kicked off.
  
  The file was not correct, so the fix would need to make the
  product error in a more graceful fashion.

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  Customers running Edifact and Tradacom data through compost
  where the segment terminator defined in the Splitter table does
  not match the segment terminator in the data.
  
  Problem Description:
  Input files larger than 4K with the above condition would cause
  compost to hang, processing would stop within compost until the
  compost process was terminated.
  

Problem conclusion

• Resolution Summary:
  When there is no match in the Splitter table for Edifact and
  Tradacom Interchanges segment termianators pairs compared with
  the data, the interchange is marked as failed, an audit message
  is written to the audit log, and compost continues to process
  the remaining interchanges in the input file.
