Error description

  • In the current version of Websphere MQ on HP Nonstop systems,
there is a general lack of detail logged for system errors
returned to the WMQ code base from the Guardian Operating
system. In certain scenarios the WMQ common services library
does not report the underlying error code returned to WMQ from
the system function call. Therefore, there is no way to
determine what the low level underlying cause of the problem is.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • MQ common services BINSEM functions do not return a failure
reason. Most of the functions were originally desigend to return
    -1.

Problem conclusion

  • This change adds failure reasons where possible and where error
codes are not available, it returns a unique string that can be
    traced into the code.
