IC87566: IBM PUREAPPLICATION SYSTEM VIRTUAL SYSTEM STATUS AND SNAPSHOT ACTIONS DISPLAY CONFLICTING MESSAGES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After a Virtual System pattern (VSP) is deployed in the IBM
  PureApplication System
  
  1. Create snapshot for the VSP.
  
  2. Stop the VSP by clicking the stop button of the VSP in the
  upper right of the screen.
  
  3. While the stop command is still processing try to delete the
  snapshot.
  
  
  4. The Workload Console is now displaying conflicting
  information:
  
    * The VSP has a busy icon, but its status is ready.
    * The VMs are indicating that they are still stopping.
    * The history shows that we were are taking a snapshot, but
      the snapshot is marked for deletion and the sytem status
      shows Ready state.
  

Local fix

• Restart all the virtual machines and the icon will show
  "Started: and the status will be "Ready"
  

Problem summary

• The virtual system pattern code was allowing conflicting actions
  to be performed. In addition the status messages were not
  providing useful information.
  

Problem conclusion

• The snapshot action buttons are now disabled when the virtual
  system pattern is in a transient state, such as starting and
  stopping. The status messages have been updated to provide
  better information.
