IC87515: BAD DATA INVOKES TRANSLATION RETRY WARNING 1-6-2002. ADD ABILITY TO CHANGE NUMBER OF RETRIES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Translation using gntxeng.exe failed with error 80040702 and
  80010105. RPC_E_SERVERFAULT detected. Commpost
          module is entering retry logic. Retry attempt number is
  1 of 5.  Message occurs when receiving bad data unfortunatly
  processing bad data causes system to be slow.  Customer needs
  to be able to change the retries to 0 so that it does not slow
  his system down for several hours

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  Customers processing inbound EDI data with structural errors
  that cause the translator to reprocess the data in a repeat
  mode.
  Problem Description:
  Translator repeats translation attempt up to 5 time.  When large
  input data files are reprocessed, consuming CPU and memory.
  

Problem conclusion

• Resolution Summary:
  Added configurable registry entry to specify the new Max Retry
  Count, to limit the number of retries.  Default is 5 retries.
