IC87408: IBM PUREAPPLICATION SYSTEM FOUNDATION PATTERN TYPE UPGRADE FOR ELASTIC LOAD BALANCING SHARED SERVICE FAILED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 1. On an IPAS rack with the default data from 1.0.0.0 deploy an
  ELB shared service using Foundation pattern type 2.0.0.3
  2. Deploy a virtual application with a routing policy using
  Foundation pattern type 2.0.0.3
  3. Login to the virtual application endpoint link using the
  proxy IP address to verify it works
  4. Import the new Foundation pattern type 2.0.0.4 and enable it
  5. Upgrade ELB shared service
  6. Try to upgrade the virtual application to the new Foundation
  pattern type and it fails. The middleware status displays an
  error.
  
  Error in virtual application logs will indicate:
  ERROR /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/AppSrv01/tx_log.tar
  was not stored. It cannot be restored

Problem summary

• New code in the virtual application patterns changed the backup
  directory for the update revert action.  This caused an issue
  during the upgrade because the location of the backup is
  different and not detected.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code was updated to check for both the new and old location
  of the backup directory for the revert action.
