IC86992: WMB V7.0 : ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE TO HONOUR CONTENT VALIDATION WHILE MRM-TDS PARSING

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • From V7.0.0.1 onwards, WMB allows searching of open defined
global elements when the search for existing children has been
exhausted and the separation type allows. Which means even when
the content validation is closed, you can have open defined
elements in the tree when the message is parsed. This can
produce a wrong result compared to previous versions, for any
model, which has many global elements and tagged structures,
which allow open content. The behavior cannot be reverted,
as it will break any model that depends on searching of open
defined global elements when the search for existing children
has been exhausted. Under this APAR we will introduce an
    environment variable MQSI_MRM_TDS_HONOUR_CONTENT_TYPE to solve
such issues. When this environment variable is set the MRM-TDS
parsing will not parse and add open contents unless the Content
    Validation is Open/Open Defined.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
From V7.0.0.1 onwards, WebSphere Message Broker allows searching
of open defined global elements when the search for existing
children has been exhausted and the separation type allows.
Which means even when the content validation is closed, you
can have open defined elements (which are not the defined
children) in the tree when the message is parsed. This can
produce a wrong result compared to previous versions, for any
model, which has many global elements and tagged structures,
which allow open content. The behavior cannot be reverted, as it
will break any model that depends on searching of open defined
global elements when the search for existing children has been
    exhausted.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR introduces an environment variable
MQSI_MRM_TDS_HONOUR_CONTENT_TYPE to address this problem. When
this environment variable is set (to any value) the MRM-TDS
parsing will not parse and add open content, unless the
    Content Validation is Open/Open Defined.
