Error description

  • Sterling Control Center V5.3 on Linux and the memory
heap expands until it reaches limit and crashed. We have to
constantly monitor memory and restart Control Center to free up
    heap.

    DB2 JDBC DriverVersion =3.62.56

Local fix

  • STRRTC - 351372
    SF / SF
Circumvention: Use an older JDBC driver 3.51.90

Problem summary

  • When query timeout is set for DB2 JDBC Driver connections, the
java.util.TimerTasks created by DB2 JDBC drivers are not
terminating when the Statement execution completes and thus
    causing out of memory eventually.

Problem conclusion

  • Added a DB2 JDBC connection property that would only one timer
task per connection when query time out value is set.

Temporary fix

  • Awaiting customer fix verification.
