Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users connecting to a single instance of *
    *                 a PCOM emulator using a EHLLAPI application  *
    * and VB Script macro at the same time. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: PCOM session freezes when multiple *
    * applications access the emulator. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When multiple applications (EHLLAPI, VB Script macro) access
    the Presentation Space at the same time, a race condition can
    occur and it causes the emulator to freeze or hang.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSWSAPI.DLL, PCSECLVC.DLL and PCSPREF.DLL have been changed
    to improve the code that handles locking of the presentation
    space.

    To enable this new code, a keyword must be added to the active
    PCSWIN.INI file for each user on the Windows machine. The
    default value for this new keyword in NO.

    Edit the PCSWIN.INI file with a ASCII editor and add:

    [API]
    Advanced_Locking=Y

    Save the INI file and restart all emulator sessions.

    Fix is scheduled for PCOM 6.0.6 Refresh Pack
