Error description

  • Customer is using mutiple sessions of Pcomm as zOS consoles
    on each PC.
The sessions are connected to host OSA-ICC TN3270E gateway.
After customer upgraded Pcomm from 5.6 to 6.0.4, one of
the console sessions often hangs and stop receiving console
messages. The session that hangs is not specific.
If a session hangs, the other sessions are still working.
The trace shows that the session received 2 byte garbaged
data that is followed by TN3270E header. So the session
cannot recognize the response flag in TN3270E header
and does not send the response to TN3270E gateway.
Customer verified that the same hang issue occurs on v6.0.4
but on v6.0.2 or prior releases of Pcomm.
And this occurs only when the multiple console screens are
    being updated rapidly.

    ****************************************************************
After installing PCOM 6.0.4 Refresh Pack, users with multiple
TN3270 console sessions will see intermittent session hangs
and disconnects. This is caused by thread unsafe code handling
outbound data streams from multiple hosts.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSTLNET.DLL has been changed to correctly handle outbound data
    from multiple TN3270 hosts.

Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.6 Refresh Pack
